Smartdwell installs the wired layer of your home network. Cable runs through the walls and ceilings. Wall plates in the rooms that need them. A central patch panel where everything terminates. Power-over-ethernet drops for cameras, access points, and smart-home hubs.
Audits are $250 and credit toward any install.
Where WiFi falls short
Three problems a wired layer solves.
Streams buffer and downloads stall.
Movies pixelate mid-scene. Your 4K quietly downgrades to grainy. Wiring the heavy users frees the air for everything else.
Twenty devices fighting for one network.
Cameras, doorbells, plugs, every cheap WiFi product clogs the air your real devices need. Wiring takes the pressure off.
Coverage that can't reach the corner.
The garage. The basement. The backyard. Mesh extenders create new dead zones between the old ones.

Probably yes, if any of these apply: video calls drop on a regular basis, streaming buffers when multiple devices are on, or you have dead zones in specific rooms. Mesh helps with coverage but the underlying physics still apply. WiFi is shared airtime, walls absorb signal, and mesh nodes that talk wirelessly to each other steal bandwidth from the rest of the network. Wired ethernet to the heavy users frees the air for everything else.
Most homes fall into our Whole Home Network tier, which starts at $3,000. That covers 6 to 8 wired drops, 2 PoE access points, a centralized patch panel, and a pre-install audit. Smaller jobs (a single office or two rooms) start at $1,500. New construction or pre-move-in projects start at $5,500 because the work is more involved and the timing is harder. Equipment is purchased separately. The $250 audit produces a precise quote for your specific home.
Before you move in, ideally. Empty rooms are dramatically easier to wire than rooms full of furniture, and pre-drywall construction is the cheapest moment of all because we can run cable directly through the framing. After move-in, work happens around your life, which costs more in time and complexity. Same logic as setting up internet service: do it once, before life starts depending on it.
Yes. Most of the time we recommend Ubiquiti for routers, switches, and access points. We've installed enough networks to know what works. Smartdwell does not sell or bundle hardware, but during the audit we provide a specific shopping list with model numbers and where each piece should live in your home. You buy the gear yourself.
Yes. Smartdwell serves the Inland Northwest, including Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, Post Falls, and Coeur d'Alene. We schedule audits and installs across the WA and ID border. Service area expands as the schedule allows.
Most installs are completed in a single day. A Targeted Install (up to 4 drops, 1 access point) typically runs 4 to 6 hours. A Whole Home Network with 6 to 8 drops and 2 access points runs a full day, sometimes spilling into a second morning for cleanup and certified testing. Built-In Network projects coordinate with your builder's schedule and may span multiple visits during construction.
